1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp olive oil
1-1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 red bell pepper, minced
1 large yellow onion, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 6 ounce can tomato paste
1 cup water
1 tsp white vinegar
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp yellow mustard
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
dash of hot sauce (optional)
8 Hamburger Buns Split - to make this a real treat and satisfying meal try these buns.
Preparation
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the ground beef for 5 minutes. Add the onion and red bell pepper; saute for 5 more minutes, or until onion is tender. Drain the fat.
Mix in tomato paste and water, stirring until paste is dissolved. Stir in remaing ingredients. Continue to heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until mixture is thickened.
Serve in split bun.
Notes:
For a large crowd, double or triple the batch and transfer to a crockpot to stay warm after preparing.
Left overs can be frozen for up to 3 months. When time add a little water to saucepan and heat through.
